Novak Djokovic vs Frank Dancevic preview

22 July 2008 50 views No Comment

Number 3 seed Novak Djokovic goes into the 2nd round of the Rogers Cup in Toronto to face wildcard Canada’s Frank Dancevic. Neither have met head-to-head before and Djokovic hasn’t had a match since he was knocked out of Wimbledon in the second round to eventual finalist, Marat Safin, 1 month ago.

But for anyone who thinks he may be rusty, this is the world number 3 we’re talking about, and being knocked out of the second round unceremoniously is only going to make him more determined to win here.

Djokovic is generally considered the best Hard Court player today, backing it up with his victory on the same service at the Australian Open in January this year, his only Grand Slam success to date. The Rogers Cup is on Hard Court, making Djokovic even more-likely to be the winner.

Novak Djokovic is current Rogers Cup champion, beating Roger Federer here last year, 7-6 6-2 7-6.

Frank Dancevic on the other hand has the home crowd in his favour and a big serve, although Djokovic will no doubt have the weapons to defend himself and outdo his opponent.
