It’s not the semi-final Lukas Podolski wanted after claiming England would be “easy”. However, Germany are playing so well going forward and face an Italy who have had 2 days less rest and played 120 minutes in their quarter-final. Most Italian fans didn’t expect their side to get this far but with how well their defence and Andrea Pirlo are playing have reason to believe.

No surprise to see Germany come through as group B winners, but Greece after picking up 1 point from their first two games are a surprise. The 1996 and 2004 winners meet in the second quarter-final and as far as I’m concerned this is going to end one way.
A great odds-against double yesterday as both France and England won – the profit made from this tournament keeps rising and rising. Heading into the final group games of the tournament, only Germany have picked up a maximum 6 points, whilst the Netherlands are on the verge of elmination.
