Premier League Betting Tips February 20/21

Arsenal certainly lost focus for a moment in their Champions League game at Porto midweek, with a dreadful second goal conceded. Their defence and fans can only be praying Manuel Almunia is fit this weekend after the horror show put on by Lukasz Fabianski on Wednesday night. One thing Arsenal do have going for them is their opposition on Saturday, Sunderland are winless in their last 12 Premier League games. Albeit that’s since they beat Arsenal. The Gunners are a different force at home though and are one to add to your accumulator this weekend.

West Ham threw away an early 2-0 lead at the KC Stadium earlier this season to draw 3-3 with Hull City. This Saturday the two sides meet at Upton Park. West Ham won here in their last Premier League game, 2-0 at home to Birmingham City. Hull City have won only 1 of their last 12 Premier League games and are without an away victory all season, losing 9 of their 13 away games. Only Burnley have a poorer record on the road this season. Hull’s goal difference is the worst in the league and on their travels they have scored just 7 times, conceding 31. West Have have a strong attack forming and with the creativity in midfield that should have success on Saturday, 5/6 for West Ham to win is a good bet.

Everyone is aware Portsmouth are going down this season. While manager Avram Grant tries to act positive, there’s little keeping the players heads up right now. A good victory in the FA Cup over rivals Southampton last weekend doesn’t disguise their dreadful league performance that has seen them lose 5 of their last 7 games and drawing the other 2. While Stoke City haven’t been winning freely, they are unbeaten in 6 in the league. A draw with Manchester City midweek, despite only having 10 men for most of the second half was unlucky not to be a win. Despite only 1 win on the road this season, they have only lost 5 of their 12 road games in the Premier League as they make themselves hard to beat. With help of some poor Portsmouth defending they could be looking for 3 points here again. Stoke City are 9/4 to win, with the safer bet a 4/7 double chance on Stoke City to win or draw.

On Sunday Aston Villa host Burnley. Aston Villa are still pushing for a top 4 finish and face a team with just 1 point from 13 games on their travels. Expect James Milner to show similar form as he did earlier in the season as he enjoys his time in the middle of the park. The pace of Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor will be another big threat to the Burnley defence as will Villa’s set pieces. Aston Villa have been held by Arsenal and Manchester United here recently, but Burnley are a completely different kettle of fish. Sitting 19th in the Premier League, Burnley have lost 5 of their last 6 games in the Premier League and won just 1 of their last 14. Aston Villa are the safest bet this weekend at 2/5.

Tottenham travel to Wigan Athletic for the final game of the Premier League weekend. They’re on a poor run at the moment as they look to have ruled themselves out of finishing 4th with poor results of late. One they player they have missed during this spell and whom they hope to have back this weekend is Aaron Lennon. He was a big part of the Spurs side that beat Wigan 9-1 earlier this season. Jermain Defoe was another big factor in that game, scoring 5 of those. Expect many to have him in their fantasy team this weekend and on their betting slips. Defoe is surprisingly 11/8 to score at any time in this match and at a handsome 40/1 to score a hat-trick. Tottenham raise a few eyebrows at 21/20 to beat Wigan on Sunday.

This is better. I think Tottenham are the best bet this weekend because they showed at White Hart Lane the difference between the top and bottom half of the Premiership when they beat Wigan 9-1. Them and Villa in a double pays nicely.
