Sunday 23rd November Tottenham v Blackburn Paul Robinson returns to White Hart Lane with his new colleagues at Blackburn for the first time since leaving Tottenham in the summer, whilst David Bentley will be playing against his former team having made the opposite switch in the summer.
Spurs experienced their first defeat under Harry Redknapp last week, losing 2-1 at Fulham after putting in a poor performance, and with goalkeeper Gomes making a horrendous blunder, gifting Simon Davies with the opening goal. Spurs have since recalled young Ben Alnwick from his loan spell at Carlisle in League One with Gomes being at fault for several goals this season. Alnwick has yet to make his debut but there is a possibility of him doing so in the following weeks if Gomes continues to be a liability. Redknapp has lost his rejuvenated Luka Modric for two weeks with a groin strain. Modric who was ineffectual under Ramos’ reign has come to life under Redknapp, playing just behind Pavlyuchenko as the playmaker. Also out of action for this match are Giovani dos Santos (ankle) and Gilberto (knee). Benoit Assou-Ekotto returns from his suspension.
Blackburn have fell into the relegation zone with Spurs last weekend following their 2-1 home defeat by Sunderland. They’re now without a win in seven games and have won just once at home all season. Paul Ince who was a success at Milton Keynes Dons and linked to a few Premier League and Championship teams last season is struggling to get to grips with the Premier League where he has looked nervous on the sidelines all season. Ince is without Brett Emerton, Steven Reid, David Dunn and Vince Grella through injuries for this match whilst Stephen Warnock is suspended.
Blackburn won here 2-1 last season with a stoppage time winner from Christopher Samba. If not for that, the result would have been 1-1 for a third straight game, before they played out that same scoreline at Ewood Park later that season.
Spurs to win 4/5
Draw 11/4
Blackburn to win 4/1
