Aston Villa v Man Utd

Manchester United take on their favourite Premier League opponents this weekend, Aston Villa, a team they have beaten 11 times in a row and not lost to in their last 25 games.

Aston Villa had lost to Newcastle and Middlesbrough before they got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory at Arsenal last weekend. Gabby Agbonlahor caused problems from the Arsenal defence on that day and done the same midweek when he made his England debut in a 2-1 win in Germany. Stiliyan Petrov played 90 minutes whilst John Carew was on the bench last weekend and didn’t play for Norway midweek either. He could return to action for this game.

Manchester United emphatically beat Stoke 5-0 last weekend which included two free kick goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, who was ineffectual in Portugal’s 6-2 defeat in Brazil on Wednesday night. Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Wes Brown missed last weekends game and England’s but could all return this weekend. Manchester United are 8pts behind the leaders with a game in hand, but with Chelsea and Liverpool both expected to win this weekend, United can’t afford to drop any more points.

Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United had comfortable success over Martin O’Neill’s Manchester United last season, winning this fixture 4-1 and winning the home fixture 4-0. Villa are getting better season after season under O’Neill but it appears Ferguson has his number.

Best bet: Manchester United to win 5/6
