Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers meet at Old Trafford in the Saturday evening Premier League match that could have big implications on a European spot finish as well as challenging Chelsea for a top four spot.
Both sides start the weekend six points behind the Blues, who kickoff the Premier League action this weekend away to Leicester City.
It’s Ole Gunnar’s Solskjaer’s side who head into the weekend in fifth spot, ahead of both Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves only on goal difference.
The Red Devils did win the FA Cup third round tie between these two, in the replay. Prior to that, Wolves had gone games unbeaten in this matchup, including the 0-0 draw in the initial meeting in January, and 1-1 at Molineux earlier this season.
Wolves are in good form and Adama Traore has been terrorising defences down the right wing. I wouldn’t be surprised if Luke Shaw is given a man of man job on the powerful winger though. That said, the visitors have other match winners in their squad – Raul Jimenez, Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota, whilst Neto has had a good run out of late.
Manchester United’s defence is leaky and top scorer Marcus Rashford is sidelined. I am surprised their odds are nearly as close to evens in this match. If there’s to be a winner I have to lean towards the West Midlands club.
Nuno’s the better tactician of the two managers, Wolves have been more consistent this season and I think they have better matchups in attack.
