Crystal Palace vs Southampton prediction

Southampton are one of the in-form sides in the Premier League, particularly among bottom half sides. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have won four of their six, with their sole defeat coming at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers over the weekend.

The Saints impressive form includes a 2-1 win at Leicester City, 2-0 at Chelsea and 1-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have won just one of their last eight in the Premier League – 2-1 over out-of-form West Ham United. Roy Hodgson’s side have drawn their last four and are without a clean sheet in their last seven. Disappointing results for the Eagles include a 1-1 draw at home to Brighton & Hove Albion, a 1-0 loss at Newcastle United and 1-1 at bottom of the league Norwich City.

When these two sides met at St Mary’s at the end of December the game finished 1-1. That came two days after Southampton had won away to Chelsea, whilst Palace had been at home to West Ham. The form of these two sides have changed a lot since.

Southampton are the slightest of favourites on Betfair but the bookmakers are struggling to call this one. A draw would be the obvious pick given the odds and last meeting between the two teams, but I think there’s better value in laying the hosts and good value in an away win.

Given the form and performances of these two sides of late I cannot see the visitors losing this one and wouldn’t be surprised if they take all three points away from Selhurst Park with them.

Best bet: Lay Crystal Palace at 2.84 with Betfair
Value bet: Southampton to win at 2.8 with Betfair

Man Utd vs Watford prediction

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rotated his side greatly for Thursday’s 1-1 draw away to Club Brugge in Manchester United’s Europa League Second Round first leg. It’s a quick turnaround for the Red Devils but they have been handed a favourable game this weekend by hosting 19th place Watford. The Hornets were 2-0 winners at Vicarage Road […]
