Carlo Ancelotti started his reign as Everton manager with a 1-0 win over Burnley on Boxing Day.
The Italian manager is now one win away from his half century in the Premier League and this weekend’s game at Newcastle United will be only his 78th in charge.
Everton created a number of chances in their win over the Clarets in Ancelotti’s first game and if anything a greater scoreline would have been a fair result. Meanwhile, Newcastle were hammered 4-1 at Manchester United in the evening game.
The Toffees may have found the manager they’ve been waiting years for and will be looking to make it five games unbeaten with their trip to St James’ Park. The mood in the camp is certainly on a high after results in recent weeks following the dismissal of Marco Silva.
Newcastle are struggling this season and I expect Carlo Ancelotti to tactically outmaster his opposition, Steve Bruce, this weekend.
With Richarlison, Bernard, Lucas Digne and Gylfi Sigurdsson creating chances they just need to find someone who can stick the ball in the back of the net. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in the form of his life and scored the only goal of the game on Boxing Day. The odds aren’t particularly great but I agree with bookmakers that Everton will come away from their trip to the Northeast with all three points.
