Leicester City host FIFA World Club Cup champions Liverpool in a second versus first matchup in the Premier League on Boxing Day.
This game concludes the day’s action with an evening kickoff at the King Power Stadium as the Foxes will be trying to close the gap on the runaway leaders.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are returning to domestic action after their successful trip to Qatar last week. They do so with a 10 point lead over Leicester in second and with a game in hand.
Leicester were played off the park over the weekend when they were beaten 3-1 at Manchester City. Brendan Rodgers’ side scored against the run of play with about their only attack of the game. The scoreline somewhat flattered the East Midlands club.
I can see Liverpool playing in a similar fashion to Manchester City in taking the game to the hosts, dominating both possession and territory. Klopp and his coaching staff may have taken note of how City got the best out of Ben Chilwell at left-back and look to overload the England international with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold attacking him. On the opposite flank, Iam not a fan of Ricardo Pereira defensively, and he should come up against Sadio Mane. Should the Senegalese be rested, expect Divock Origi to step in.
The hosts will pose a threat to Liverpool defensively but Virgil van Dijk and co have looked stronger in recent weeks. Leicester conceded three last time out and it could have been a lot more. Should Jurgen Klopp’s front three all be fresh and ready to start, I can the Reds putting up a similar number of goals on Thursday.
Best bet: Liverpool to win is 2.24 with Betfair
