Crystal Palace vs Leicester prediction

Crystal Palace and Leicester City meet at Selhurst Park on Sunday as both teams will look to continue their pushes for European football next season.

The Eagles are surprisingly flying high at the moment, which includes a 2-1 win at Manchester United back in August. I certainly didn’t expect them to be this high up the table at the beginning of the season and I still expect them to finish in the bottom half come May.

For now though, Roy Hodgson is getting the best out of his side. This, despite not scoring many.

Wilfried Zaha is still playing very well but has not scored a single goal through the opening 10 games of the season. The Ivorian forward also only has one assist to his name. Crystal Palace have been reliant on Jordan Ayew for the goals, with the Ghanian scoring four. Luka Milivojevic and left-back Patrick van Aanholt have chipped in with two each.

Summer signing Gary Cahill has been playing very well in recent weeks and is vital to their defence. In fact, I think the former England international is going to struggle with Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez in the Leicester City attack.

Leicester incredibly put nine past Southampton in 90 minutes last Friday, which is only one goal less than Palace have scored in their first 10 games combined. Jamie Vardy helped himself to a hat-trick at St Mary’s to take his tally to nine on the season, and Vardy also bagged three past the hapless Saints.

Brendan Rodgers’ high-flying Leicester have a few weapons in their attack, with James Maddison both a creator and goalscorer. Youri Tielemans is chipping in with the goals and assists from central midfield too.

Leicester’s defence has looked stronger in recent weeks too, with Caglar Soyuncu growing into the role week after week. The young Turkish defender is forming a formidable partnership with the experienced Jonny Evans, who himself, I thought, was better than Harry Maguire last season.

With all this mind I am confident that Leicester will go to Southeast London on Sunday afternoon and come back with three points.

Best bet: Leicester City to win is 2.24 with Betfair
