Manchester City kick off their Premier League title defence at the London Stadium on Saturday lunchtime to face a West Ham United side they have had great success against in recent seasons.
Pep Guardiola’s side made few signings during the transfer window as he keeps his title-winning side in tact heading into the new campaign.
What’s more, the Citizens also have Kevin De Bruyne back to full fitness. The Belgian superstar was arguably the best player in the Premier League two seasons ago so don’t be surprised if the midfielder is one of the very best again this campaign.
West Ham have made a number of new signings this summer as they did last summer too. 12 months ago Manuel Pellegrini’s side made a slow start and I am expecting them to get off to a losing start this season.
Whilst City are clear favourites with the bookmakers, they have been scoring four of five goals for each of their past trips to West Ham’s new stadium and I wouldn’t be surprised if they scored a few in the capital on Saturday either.
Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero were busy at the Copa America over the summer and split time in last weekend’s Community Shield. They may have to do the same this weekend as they get their energy back. Either way, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and De Bruyne are all goalscorers from midfield anyway.
I am very confident in Manchester City starting the 2019-20 Premier League season with a win, and a big win too.
Best bet: Manchester City to win -1.5 goals is 1.90 with Betfair
