Frank Lampard takes charge of his first game at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea manager as his side host Leicester City on Sunday.
Chelsea took the game to Manchester United in the opening minutes of their defeat at Old Trafford last weekend but lacked the quality in the final third. Without Eden Hazard and with Tammy Abraham it’s difficult to see where the Blues are going to find the fire power to finish in the top four this season.
The Blues fell apart after Kurt Zouma clumsily conceded a penalty before going down 4-0 to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. Without Antonio Rudiger they are missing their best defender.
Leicester City were held 0-0 at home by Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend but Brendan Rodgers’ side will be looking to break into the top six this season. They ended the last campaign well and have the players to cause the hosts some real problems in West London on Sunday.
Jamie Vardy’s movement off the ball could be a real problem to Kurt Zouma and co, just like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial terrorised the Chelsea defence last weekend.
Behind Vardy, James Maddison is an excellent number 10 who is capable of scoring from inside and outside of the penalty area. Ayoze Perez was added to Leicester’s attack over the summer.
Despite selling Harry Maguire to Manchester United, the Foxes still have a good defence, protected by Wilfried Ndidi. As already stated, Chelsea were unimpressive in attack at Old Trafford. I expect Leicester to get a result this weekend and I wouldn’t be surprised if they won.
