Aston Villa will be looking to extend their winning streak and playoff push when they travel to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday to come up against former manager Steve Bruce.
This is the most difficult of a 10-game fixture list in which they have already won the first nine and of which I reckon they can win as many as nine, before facing Leeds United and Norwich City in their final two games.
The Villans’ 2-1 win against Blackburn Rovers last weekend moved Dean Smith’s side up to fifth in the league, but only two points above Middlesbrough in eighth, with all three teams directly below them having at least one game in hand.
Sheffield Wednesday are unbeaten in their last 12 themselves (W6, D6) but with only two of them currently in the top half.
This should be one of the games of the weekend in the Championship and it’s a shame it’s not been televised. I expect the visitors to take the game to Sheffield Wednesday and with the likes of Tammy Abraham, Anwar El Ghazi, Jack Grealish, John McGinn and Conor Hourihane proving to be too much for the host’s defence. Villa’s odds are impressive too.
