Manchester City will be looking to go back to the top of the Premier League on Wednesday night when they face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the derby.
The Red Devils are coming off the back of Sunday’s 4-0 humiliation at Everton whilst City were 1-0 winners over Tottenham Hotspur to shorten their odds of becoming the 2018-19 Premier League champions.
Pep Guardiola’s side no longer have Champions League fixtures so don’t expect much rotation from here on out. They are swearing over the fitness of Kevin De Bruyne however. The Belgian superstar had been on top form in recent weeks having spent most of the season on the sidelines.
The Citizens still a wealth of attacking talent at their proposal – Raheem Sterling is in red hot form, Sergio Aguero has a great goalscoring record in this fixture, Bernardo Silva has been excellent this season and they’ve still got David Silva pulling the strings in the middle of the park.
Manchester United have lost six of their last eight in all competitions and were completely undone at the back over the weekend. They also caused little threat on Jordan Pickford’s goal at the other end.
I don’t think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a great tactician so even if he can fire his team up for this important fixture, I expect the likes of Sterling, Aguero and Silva to undo the likes of Ashley Young, Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof at the back.
Three points for Manchester City on Wednesday puts them top of the Premier League with games against Burnley (away), Leicester City (home) and Brighton & Hove Albion (away) to finish the season.
