Southampton vs Leicester prediction

A winless Southampton host a Leicester City side who will be looking for a top eight finish this season, at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints were held 0-0 at home by a Burnley side who were playing in between Europa League qualifiers, and then beaten 2-1 at Everton last weekend.

Leicester City had a tough start at Old Trafford on the opening night of the season before bouncing back with a 2-0 victory over Wolves last weekend.

The visitors will be without the suspended Jamie Vardy this weekend and don’t have a great replacement in Kelechi Iheanacho who has looked woeful and short of confidence in front of goal since joining from Manchester City more than a year ago.

However, in James Maddison and Demarai Gray they have goals from midfield, and both full-backs, Ben Chilwell and Ricardo Pereira look good going forward.

Southampton remain one of my picks to go down this season and there’s still an attractive price on them.  Aside from Danny Ings I think they had a bad summer transfer window to go on top of having Mark Hughes as their manager.

Ings has looked sharp to start the season and has scored the south coast club’s sole goal this campaign.  He’s the one threat for the home side in this match, but ultimately I expect Leicester to prevail.

Value bet: Back Leicester at 3.35 with Betfair
