Either Fulham or Derby County are 90 minutes away from Wembley Stadium and the Championship playoff final, unless the second leg at Craven Cottage on Monday night goes to extra time.
Derby were surprise 1-0 winners at Pride Park on Friday night as Cameron Jerome scored with the home side’s only effort on target all game.
Slavisa Jokanovic’s side finished 13 points above the Rams in the table and were on a 23-game unbeaten streak prior to losing at Birmingham City on the final day of the season. This included a 2-1 win at Derby County in March where they completely outplayed the East Midlands club.
Fulham have a number of the top players in the division, including Ryan Sessegnon, Tom Cairney and Aleksandar Mitrovic and you can expect a lot of pressure on the Derby goal throughout most of the 90 minutes in West London on Monday night.
The Cottagers hit the crossbar and missed a one-on-one in the first leg but having dominated the possession throughout the game and with only a two-day rest in between, I simply believe Derby’s legs will tire in the second leg, particularly in the second half.
Not a huge fan of Andre Wisdom and Richard Keogh in the Derby defence so I am expecting goals from the home side – enough to send them to the final. At the other end, Derby’s attack has not been very potent since, quite frankly, the start of the year.
