Manchester United will take on Crystal Palace on Monday night football at Selhurst Park which could see the hosts kicking off in the relegation zone.
Roy Hodgson’s side are five games without a win and have not scored more than one goal in a single game since 2 January. A win for Stoke City at Southampton or Swansea City avoiding defeat at home to West Ham United on Saturday would see Crystal Palace drop into the bottom three.
A win for Liverpool at home to Newcastle United on Saturday evening would see Manchester United drop to third but Jose Mourinho’s biggest interest is finishing in the top four to qualify for next season’s Champions League. The Red Devils currently have a six point lead over Chelsea in fifth with Antonio Conte’s side at runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City on Sunday.
Crystal Palace have been hit with a string of injuries all over the field – Mamadou Sakho, Scott Dann and Joel Ward in defence, whilst Timothy Fosu-Mensah is ineligible to face his parent club. Wilfried Zaha won’t face his former club due to injury, whilst the Ivorian is joined by fellow midfielders Yohan Cabaye, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Bakary Sako and Jason Puncheon on the sidelines.
Striker Christian Benteke has only two goals this season and Alexander Sorloth doesn’t hit me as a player who will score many in the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho hasn’t been hit with many injuries since last time out and I fully expect their attack to get the better of Palace’s makeshift defence. Romelu Lukaku has been among the goals recently, Alexis Sanchez is due a top performance whilst either Anthony Martial or Marcus Rashford are both goalscorers too.
I am expecting a comfortable win for Manchester United on Monday night.
