Liverpool will be looking to maintain their top four spot at the end of the weekend with three points at Southampton on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s side start the weekend in third place – five points behind Manchester United, one ahead of Chelsea and two ahead of Tottenham Hotspur.
Southampton’s 3-2 win at West Bromwich Albion last weekend was their first in 13 Premier League attempts but Mauricio Pellegrino’s side look like strong relegation candidates and have kept only one clean sheet in their last 18 Premier League outings.
With Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in attack I can only see a comfortable away win for the Reds.
Virgil van Dijk will be up for facing his former team in the Liverpool defence and could even be partnered by fellow former-Saint Dejan Lovren in the middle. In fact, the Merseyside club also have Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and the aforementioned Mane who were signed directly from Southampton, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain came through their youth system too.
Liverpool are the Premier League’s leading goalscorers on the road and although Klopp’s side are inconsistent I think there’s good value in an away win on this one due to Southampton’s weak defence and dire form.
