Crystal Palace and Newcastle United meet at Selhurst Park in one of the two televised Premier League games this Sunday.
Both sides come into this game out-of-form. Roy Hodgson’s side were hammered 4-1 at Arsenal before being held 1-1 by West Ham United in their last two games. Meanwhile, the Magpies are winless in their last four since their FA Cup third round victory over Luton Town.
I see Wilfried Zaha being Crystal Palace’s biggest threat in this game. The winger does have four goals though only one assist this season. The Ivory Coast international can cause the Newcastle defence problems with his pace and running directly at the players.
Palace’s top scorer is actually centre midfielder Luka Milivojevic with five goals, though four of these have actually come from the penalty spot. Striker Christian Benteke has been blunt this season with only two Premier League goals.
Kenedy was impressive in his Newcastle debut midweek in recording an assist in a man of the match performance. Provided the Brazilian starts this game he can be a real nuisance to the Crystal Palace defence that has only kept one clean sheet in their five games since the turn of the year.
Newcastle have problems scoring goals themselves with striker Joselu their top scoring, only netting four times this season. They’re useful from set pieces with Jamaal Lascelles scoring from three corners this season and Ciaran Clark also have two goals.
Whilst neither team heads into this match with any kind of form I simply don’t see Roy Hodgson getting the better of Rafa Benitez. Crystal Palace’s odds are too short.
