A Week of Missed Opportunities

11 March 2010 by Barrie | Football Betting Expert

Starting on Monday this week, watching a shaky Liverpool defence trying to hold out an attacking Wigan side. I never backed the 5/1 pre-match Latics who’s odds would have improved in-play, and eventually I was made to pay when Hugo Rodallega scuffed in the only goal of the game. Liverpool never looked up for the game and manager Rafa Benitez didn’t defend his poor-performing players after the game. Steven Gerrard was ineffectual and Fernando Torres was far from his sharpest. Liverpool had little invention and Charles N’Zogbia caused Emiliano Insua problems on the right hand side.

Then came the Champions League on Tuesday. Already with a large bet on Arsenal to qualify from their matchup with Porto, I didn’t brave backing Arsenal to win on the night. Their odds were fine and very attractive on the handicap against the poor travelling Portuguese side. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I was really kicking myself when Nicklas Bendtner smashed home his hattrick from the penalty spot. Missed opportunity number 2 but I was still well up from this tie.

And finally on Wednesday. Unfortunately I could not watch the Manchester United-AC Milan second leg live and didn’t take the chance on Manchester United before kickoff at 8/11. That was despite Manchester United’s dominance in Milan where a bigger margin of victory than 3-2 wouldn’t have flattered them.

There’s no need to panic though with how the season is going. If there’s any in-play value in the Europa League tonight then I will take it. If there isn’t then I will wait for my next opportunity.
