Bolton Wanderers v Burnley Betting Preview
Owen Coyle’s fourth match in charge of Bolton sees him face his former team and local neighbours Burnley. Although the game isn’t on English TV, this should be a good battle.
Bolton Wanderers
Despite a 2 goal lead at the Emirates, Bolton shouldn’t look at Arsenal’s 4-2 win as 3 points lost. They weren’t expected to get anything from that game and just helped make us punters richer. A clean sheet and a victory over Sheffield United in the FA Cup on Saturday was a good start for Owen Coyle, but this will be his most important game to him so far. Johan Elmander came on to seal the FA Cup win late on and Coyle’s appointment could help the Swede finally settle into English football. Getting ahead of Kevin Davies and Ivan Klasnic for a place in the starting lineup is a tough task though. Ivan Klasnic would be a good selection in this match, with his runs likely to find him room beyond the Burnley defence. His quick feet in the box should see the Croatian have a number of chances in this match. Matt Taylor seems reignited under Coyle and had a number of chances over the two games with Arsenal. If the defence doesn’t leak goals in this game, 3 points are up for grabs against a struggling Burnley side.

Burnley
Brian Laws’ first game as Burnley manager was a 3-0 defeat at Manchester United. That was followed up on Sunday with a 1-0 FA Cup exit at the hands of Reading. His 3rd game is also away from home before he can be introduced to the home fans on Saturday against Chelsea. Laws hasn’t turned the clubs fortunes around and they are yet to score under him. While Bolton’s defence leaks goals and yet to keep a clean sheet this season, Burnley have surrendered 34 goals in 11 league matches this season. Bolton will enjoy playing this defence with their manager knowing the Burnley team and weaknesses very well. They may be able to deal with the long balls to Kevin Davies up front, but the skill and movement of Ivan Klasnic doesn’t serve Burnley well on paper. The attacking threats of Bolton’s midfield need to be dealt with too and should cause Burnley a number of problems in this game.

Bolton have played well under Owen Coyle and with Burnley’s poor form I think Bolton are the best bet on Tuesday.
